In today's
session, we have learnt various tools that create interactive tasks for grammar
practice or language awareness. We also tried to create a Google Forms quiz, a
JMix task and a JQuiz task.
I particularly like the Google Forms for several reasons. First of
all, it was commonly used as a survey before, however, with the 'quiz'
function, teachers can easily turn it to an interactive assessment tool that is
possible to replace the traditional form of assessment (the pen and paper
form). Students may get a lot more interested or hopefully, motivated in doing
the quiz.
Secondly, the Google Forms quiz is user-friendly to both teachers
and students. For teachers, it is very easy to create with a wide range of
question types such as multiple choices and short answers. For students, it is
easy to handle in answering the questions. Not many technical problems would
occur.
Last but not least, this kind of online quizzes has an advantage
that students can do them anytime. Therefore, teachers can make good uses of
them as homework, summative assessments as well as formative assessments.
I will definitely ask my students to try my new Google Form quiz
on –ed / -ing adjectives! J
